    After further research, I agree with you about the 8N timeline. My late husband liked the idea that he and his tractor were both 1947 Fords. I found the serial number, but was unable to read it. I assume that is how he determined the tractor's age. Thanks for the lesson.

    Well, if I might quote from the book "Ford N Series Tractor", by Chester Peterson Jr. and Rod Beemer: "Sales of the new 8N were brisk indeed when it was offered for sale in July, 1947." But, then again,you may be correct. We may have opened a can of worms.
