    F-30 rebuild?

Thanks for the guidance. I am still waiting on an answer whether I can even get the tractor back, but if I do, it won't be until this fall as I am currently out of town on Army business. I will probably have my local Farmall experts do the engine work if it's needed, but at least now I can...

I've set my sights on acquiring my dad's F- 30, and am starting to investigate my rebuild options. Any advice out there? I want a strong wngine but nohing crazy.

    Farmall 350 carburetor help

My H was rebuilt. It ran flawlessly before it left and came home with no noticeable issues, and then I noticed a stumble that I couldn't tune out via carb adjustments after multiple removals and teardowns. Turned out to be a worn distributor rotor. The wear inside the plastic rotor was enough to...

    Allis Chalmer 185 loader

Good morning fellas, I am I m interested in purchasing a Allis Chalmer 185 from my grandfather but the only thing wrong with the tractor is no loader he used it on our family farm to run pto irrigation pumps and pull hard hoses around. I am searching for a tractor to mow, rake and bale hay but...

    Farmall F-30 weight

Thank you for your direct reply. Every other post left me guessing.

    Farmall F-30 weight

Right, the test showed steel wheels, extensions and lugs on both. So what do those weigh compared to rubber tires & wheels? I'm having a hard time estimating weight.

Weight of an F-30 on rubber

I'm thinking about buying back our dad's F-30, and was checking weights in contemplation of a haul. Tractordata.com shows it to be 5400 lbs., but that seems a little high for that tractor on rubber? Did anyone do an actual weigh? The Nebraska Test in 1931 used a tractor with steel wheels & lugs...

    Farmall F-30 weight

I know this has been discussed some in an old thread, but I was hoping someone would see the new post: I'm thinking about buying back our dad's F-30, and was checking weights in contemplation of a haul. Tractordata.com shows it to be 5400 lbs., but maybe that's on steel? That seems a little high...

Oil in the intake of a Farmall C air filter

I believe there is supposed to be a coarse steel wool material in that pipe to catch the splash when air comes through. Also the holes in the tube in the cup might be clogged, causing increased turbulence in the oil.

    Farmall A missing/skipping

I would second everything the other gentleman said, paying special attention to the valve adjustment and air cleaner. Too much or too little resistance (full of mud or empty) in the filter can make the carb draw funny.

    IH Chest Freezer

I had one from my aunt's basement I was going to restore, but it sat empty too long and the evaporator coils rusted through. If I were you, plug it in BEFORE you move it for at least 15 minutes to be sure it's worth the effort. 2 minutes isn't long enough. If this is one without a fan around the...

    Thoughts on H rebuild/performance

It would, but any results would indicate pulling pistons anyway. If I go to that trouble, I might as well put a kit in it. It runs great but smokes a little. Nobody wants to breathe that in all day. I doubt it has any compression differences, maybe just a bad wiper ring. If it's a simple hone &...

    Thoughts on H rebuild/performance

I have other tractors; this particular H is getting rebuilt because it is a family piece, and because I have the ability to do my own work. I really don't have other people to work on my stuff except for decking/planing, and that's because I don't have the tools. Since my labor is free, parts &...

    IH 1 1/2 - 3 hp

This message is a reply to an archived post by Bob Harvey on August 11, 2016 at 13:31:28. The original subject was "Re: IH 1 12 3 hp". I don't think you'll find a clear diagram. Things to look for are a lateral bind in the butterfly shaft, a sticking butterfly shaft or coupler from misaligned...

IHC 3-5 LB Carburetor Float Needed

This message is a reply to an archived post by JT on September 30, 2016 at 15:53:02. The original subject was "Re: IHC 35 LB Carburetor Float Needed". The float type for gravity feed is to run kerosene. I might add a chunk of cork was probably used as a float. I know my uncle's 10-20 does. That...

    Thoughts on H rebuild/performance

Will the 350 cam & gears require a different known timing advance, or should I just play with the variables until I get the best result?

    Thoughts on H rebuild/performance

My plans for the tractor are the routine stuff it used to do: baling, mowing, plowing/risking, hauling loads to the yard, etc. I just want it to have that little bit extra capability, regardless if I ever call on it. As far as the live hydraulics, I want it to appear stock, so I will skip that...

    Thoughts on H rebuild/performance

I'm looking for ideas or thoughts on what route to take when I rebuild my early ('41)straight H prior to painting. It is unmodified/gas only and runs superbly at any RPM, but there's a little blue smoke it's always had since my dad bought it from his cousin in '82 or '83 with a stuck motor. Dad...

    Farmall 400 Diesel, ser. 40216

We're looking for our dad's Farmall 400 Diesel, sold sometime back in the 1980s in northeast Iowa. The paint was rough and the TA was out, but it ran great and had the aftermarket power steering. Please contact or reply.
