    To answer you and Determined, together, yes, it has flats for a wrench to tighten and loosen and flat to flat is better than 4 inches.     With that search, I get the wrench for the hydraulic filler/filter assembly. That is on top of the tank to fill and as a filtered vent. That wrench is significantly smaller than this filter. Apologies if I am being thick and misunderstanding. George
