    Farmall M band brake issue

    So installing the brakes on my ‘42 M the band locks up as soon as I tighten up the cover screws. The one already installed has about 2/3 a turn of the arm from full open to full tight which is the same on this one until I tighten the cover. Any ideas what is hanging up?

    M - Bolster Seals

    Once I clean out the grease that had been used in the steering gear I am replacing the seals and running oil. Does the horizontal seal need to be driven into place from underneath? How about the lower felt seal, just put it on top of the bolster shaft when installing?

    I am rebuilding this tractor as cheaply as possible. It is a kerosene head tractor that used stock bore 3 7/8 pistons. Water in a cylinder has ruined my #3 piston and I am hoping someone has a replacement. It is a high step piston (compensating for the head) Looks to be 8175D.
