    JD 3020 24volt light/short question

Hey everyone. Just wanted to give a big thanks to everyone for their knowledge and wisdom, and your willingness to share it. I ended up putting a ground wire in with a 20amp fuse on the series cable. I achieved the correct voltages and got the lights working; however, I discovered that the...

    To [email protected] Problems

Thank you for the reply! The 2 batteries are hooked up in series as per the colored diagram; however there is not wire between the mid point of the batteries to the chasis. What gauge should this be and should it be fused? I will try the tests out next weekend. Thanks again, Bruce

    JD 3020 24volt light/short question

Bob, I've rewired the batteries as per the black and white diagram posted. I've obtained all the correct voltages in the proper locations. The generator light is on, even with the ignition off, and the lights are not working. The generator light goes out when I disconnect the 12volt negative...

    JD 3020 24volt light/short question

No I did not. My understanding of the fuse is that it will protect the lights from blowing from the 24volt load in case of a short? I have disconnected the 12volt system because I don't have fire insurance...although maybe I should get some and hook it back up:)

    JD 3020 24volt light/short question

<image src="http://forums.yesterdaystractors.com/photos/mvphoto9112.jpg"/> <image src="http://forums.yesterdaystractors.com/photos/mvphoto9113.jpg"/> I have attached two possible wiring diagrams for the 24volt 3020. I had understood, although I'm quite possibly wrong, that the colored diagram...

    JD 3020 24volt light/short question

I completed installation of a new 12 volt battery, hooked the 2 12volts in series (right battery negative to left battery positive) and established a positive ground off the left battery. Vola, the lights worked..until I started the tractor. I did some reading and polarized the generator by...

    Another JD 3020 24volt question

Yes, no joking. It's an interstate 3eh-vhd instead of the 12volt 3et-vhd.

    Another JD 3020 24volt question

Great, thanks! I don't know much about this system other than the loads I've been reading. I appreciate the help!

    Another JD 3020 24volt question

Thanks for the reply. The positive cable from the right battery goes to the starter body and the negative from the left goes to the solenoid. Must still be 24volt? Do the 12volt positive and negative ground circuits both ground from the 'positive' ground off the left battery? I assume since...

    Another JD 3020 24volt question

Hello all. I just purchased a 1965 JD 3020 diesel standard. SN 79669. It starts fine and came with new batteries. It still has a 24v starter and has a generator. The lights are not working, but have been tested to be alright. I started looking closer and it has 2 batteries in series, but the...
