IH 606 no spark trouble shooting advice please.

My apologies for wasting your time. What caught my eye was the use of emery cloth.

IH 606 no spark trouble shooting advice please.

I would take a clean business card and after adjusting the points, use it to clean the points. I would avoid emery paper. With the points in the closed position open by hand insert card and let the points close on it and pull it through. The coating on the points you buy today is pretty thin...

    Champion Generator

It doesn't take too much to cause the motor to seize from rust. If it is not hydro locked, try spraying some BP Blaster into the cylinder. Remove the recoil starter and try to turn it over with a socket and breaker bar. I used to put my generator in storage by stalling it with fogging oil, it...

    Got at Gas Station

She was trolling for you. Sounds like you are glad you took the bait.

    Champion Generator

The compression relief works by opening the exhaust valve a small amount at cranking speed by adding a extra bump on the cam and moves the bump out of the way at speed. It should have about 50 PSI of compression at cranking speed. If the compression relief does not work, exhaust valve usually...

    Vom recommendations

My son got me a FLUKE 117 with a clamp on 323 as a set which I like. I find the clamp on handy. I carry an inexpensive HF clamp on in my farm truck, I keep it in a nice Klien case, so I look like I know what I am doing.

    Am I being misled?

He is not talking about rod bearings. Changing main bearings in a two cylinder is not that easy. The right reduction cover comes off and the fly wheel on the left side plus getting the oil lines off inside the crank case. If you are going to use them, I would put them in the housing and shim...

MF 65 runs bad when it gets hot. - HELP

As mentioned maybe coil. I have had this symptom with a carb issue, if the needle and float do not completely shut off fuel the carb can run rich which is not as much of an issue when cold. When hot the tractor runs but not smoothly.

Surge Protector & Random Circuit Breaker Tripping

You got some good advice; I assume a newer smart breaker does both Arc Fault and GFI. Maybe that surge protector is going south on you. I would check for a loose neutral in your system just in case.

    Checks

Apparently, the restaurant business is tougher than it looks. My sister-in-law and her husband partnered with another couple and bought a small restaurant. It was supposed to make them rich, but they nearly lost their house in the end. I spent a lot of time helping them get the electrical...

    Checks

I got stiffed a couple of times selling freezer beef, the one that hurt was someone I considered a friend. A second person showed up a year later, they cleaned the counter and found the check that had been written to me carefully folded up in the corner. He had thought his wife had dropped the...

    Pacer

Looks like it will need rubber, that's going to add to the cost.

    Pacer

Talk the guy down a bit and buy it. That engine is not as common as the Pony or Mustang engine and parts on this site are a bit minimal.

Adding remotes on early model JD 4020

My gas 4020 came with an interesting set up. There is a closed center valve mounted on the water manifold with pressure coming from a tee on the line to the three point and return going to a ported filter. The remote lines go to a bracket on the left rear. This mounting allows for a control...

Interesting puzzle- Not the standard Massey 65 steering problem

Thanks for presenting a problem and then solving it for us readers. I would have thought rebuilding the steering cylinder removed it from the equation. I expect it will now work flawlessly for the next 20 years.

    Oil volume, dipstick or manual?

I have noticed that showing a bit overfull on the dip stick after adding the recommended amount of oil is not uncommon. I would add the recommended volume and unless it off by more than a quart let it go.

    Mercury lamp dusk-to-dawn sensor?

I assume when you said you rewired it you converted to an LED. I had the same issue with one of mine and my boys insist I stay off my tall ladder. I installed a remote eye at the switch. They come with a fitting to attach to a standard box.

Massey Ferguson 165 MultiPower with no pulling power in any gear

I think you may need to split it and replace the engine clutch. Not that bad of a job. When the high range Multi-Power fails it just drops into low range which is a direct drive setup. Sometimes these tractors are used for years with no high range Multi-Power, just be careful on a downhill run.

    3010 gas starter

On my 4020 gas I had good luck with the 20 series Delco. They come with a HD 10 series Delco. The 20 series use the same drive head as the HD 10 series.

3020 gas fuel starvation -- still

Which carb, I had the MS carb on my 4020 boil the fuel in the carb and as near as I can figure bend the float adjustment. I had the same symptoms you describe even after changing the fuel pump. Pulled the carb and discovered that the needle valve was barely opening. Set float to factory...
