    IH 986

Hi all, Ive been wanting to purchase an IH tractor for a few years now. I know of a IH 986 the guy said he would sell. 2 owner tractor, around 4500 hours, he says the TA works fine. My only concern is he keeps it parked in a barn and says he starts and drives it occasionally, but I have never...

    Ford 5000 3pt Problem

I have noticed on a Ford 5200 the 3pt hitch lever seems to only have about an inch of adjustment. The handle will move about two inches down before it starts lowering and about another inch later the lift arms will be all the way down, with plenty of room for the handle to keep going before it...

    Row Crow vs Utility Axle

Interesting, whats involved from changing it to the front to rear position? Just swapping the linkage side?

    Row Crow vs Utility Axle

Thanks! Would this be the Row crop version? Kinda hard to tell from the pictures I know.

    Row Crow vs Utility Axle

So, what is a way to visually tell the difference in the wide front axle on a row crop (5200) vs one for a utility version? As in if I was looking around a scrapyard and the axles were lying on the ground not on a tractor. Hopefully I made the question clear

    4200-5200 Front Axle swap

Dang, thanks. Got it in my head somewhere that they were the same and the 7200 and up were different. Thanks!

    4200-5200 Front Axle swap

I have a 72 ford 5200 narrow front, and was just wanting to make sure a wide front of of a 67/68 ford 4200 would swap pretty easily. I dont have the wide front yet, but was considering buying a wide front 4200 just to have both options. Thanks, Heagon

    5000 Valve Adjustments

When I bought the tractor, the starter would hang occasionally. Went to the old ford dealer in town and they sold me an aftermarket, this starter has spun slower than the first one since Ive had it. The original would crank the 4cy fast enough, but this one is slower.

    5000 Valve Adjustments

Yes, using manifold heater and the fuel button. I think after thinking on it more the starter isnt spinning it over fast enough. Anything under about 50 degrees Fahrenheit it has to be roll started, or put a 300amp booster so it will really spin when cranking. Sniff of ether and itll start good...

    5000 Valve Adjustments

1972 Ford 5200 Diesel, seems to be a little hard starting and I got to thinking it could be the valves out if adjustment? Could that make it harder to start? Also, seemed to have lost my manual, what are the specs for the valves on a 256? Thanks, Heagon

    5000 turbo oil lines

Thanks everyone for the replies! The tractor has been mismatched a little bit over the years, I think someone put a turbo on it in the early 80s and took it to tractor pulls, and rebadged it a 7000. I received a lot of good information from this thread!

    5000 turbo oil lines

I have checked the block numbers with those on the underside of the hood and they matched up. So these taps, will it be supplying unfiltered oil??

    5000 turbo oil lines

Thanks for all the information. Were some 5000 blocks drilled for the turbo lines? It looks like my was from the factory. And someone before be had a turbo on it, and cut the hood for the exhaust to exit in front.

    5000 turbo oil lines

Good evening, I just bought Airesearch turbo and manifold for a 7600 to put on my 5200. I dont have the oil feed and oil return lines to and from the engine block. Has anyone made their own lines and connections? I saw on the CNH parts page the lines and elbows to connect but they were $$$ in...
