    Explain this wreck

When I took driver's ed, we were told that it is illegal to pass within 100 feet of an intersection in ND. I don't know if that law still stands or not. I'd have to look it up. I suppose every state has their own laws on that. About 90% of the time the person who hit another from behind are...

Case Ingersoll 226 . Any fans of this tractor on the site ?

I have several late 60s/early 70s Cub Cadet hydrostatics and while I really like them, their speed control could have been better too. Especially after they get to be 50 years or more old and things get worn! I know nothing of the Ingersoll tractors, but your description of having to hold onto...

    Bobcat 310 371 440 mini skid loader

We have a Lahman Little dipper with a Kohler, about 20 or 22 HP. That is the handiest little thing in the world! Those mini skidsteers are great for small jobs because the are so menuverrable. We used it to dig out the basement under our house. We just had about an 8x12 dirt cellar and dug out...

I'd like to know what the free travel is on the clutch pedal. Perhaps it was adjusted backward and now has 3 inches of free travel. Would also be nice to hear more info from the O.P.

    sealer for metal

I've used a couple different things for something like that. One is "dum dum", a non-hardening sealer that comes in a block or in strips. It will stick to and seal the two components together. Another thing I've done is to put down a bead of rtv silicone, then cover the rtv with a piece of Saran...

When did you last use one of these?

I have 1 or 2 and as a kid my dad taught me how to use one so I cut some glass just for practice. I've never had to use one since!

    Tool Prices....

This Snap On 24" half drive flex head ratchet runs about $270. It was worth every penny I paid for it. On the other hand these 6" Napa clamps cost about $15 for the pair. I overpaid a crap ton for them.

    Condenser question

My auto tech instructor used to do that. We had a couple of guys who liked to sleep during classroom time. The instructor would have one charged up, yell the name of whoever was sleeping and throw the condenser to him. Being half asleep, they'd always try and catch it. That'll wake you up!

    655d sheared oil pump.

Which GM used hex shafts? Trying to remember if maybe Olds or Pontiac? I just can't remember. Chevy used the slotted round shaft. Ford was hex.

    655d sheared oil pump.

Used to be common on Ford V8 gas engines with the hex oil pump drives. Especially in the winter when the oil got really thick.

    Radiator Flush

Yes, in heater cores anyway. Honda at one time had a service bulletin with a fix for plugged heater cores. We pumped CLR through them, followed with water. Repeated several times..been wiite a few years ago but I did a few of them. That would have been sometime around 2006-2010 i think.

    Battery post shims

I think it got pushed outside until the owner decides if he wants a proper repair done with new cables. If not...I'm not sure! The guy working on it took all of the owner's "repairs" off so now we'd have to put it back to how it was when it came in. Personally I wouldn't have touched a thing on...

    Battery post shims

Luckily one of the other guys is working on this one. There are pieces broken and mising from the cables so to do a proper repair, both cables should be replaced. If I remember right these run around $300 for the positive cable since it's a harness with starter, battery and alternator...

    What is this for?

Or power sunroof, power rear sliding window etc. Couldn't tell a specific application though.

    Battery post shims

Yup, I'm a big fan of stabilant 22. I use it on certain cars that have air bag connector resistance problems inder the seats. Once the connector is repaired ( using the process in a TSB addressing the issue) i always use stabilant 22 on the terminals. I think I must have fixed all of those...

    Battery post shims

I know I said I was done, but just to clarify, I'm talking about ONE SPECIFIC CLAMP DESIGN. The design in the pic by the OP. And I understand what Hobonc is saying. If I were to replace the clamp, and battery, and the clamp still doesn't tighten on the post, what is the alternative? Keep trying...

    Battery post shims

Im not talking about suppliers, I'm talking about factory original parts. I'm not promoting anything, just saying what the car manufacturer requires. I can only do what the manufacturer approves. Dealership practices require me to do manufacturer approved repairs. Manufacturer dictates what what...

    Battery post shims

You pretty much nailed it. Sorry if my description wasn't real clear. The upper edge is tapered for the cone, actually more of a radius, to make the arm slide sideways. It will only tighten as far as the cone on the bottom of the nut will pull that little arm sideways. Then the nut is bottomed...
