    Ford 860 Exhaust Glowing Hot

Check your exhaust valve lash. If set too tight it will cause your exact symptoms.

    8N Starter Button Malfunction

Push button is most likely NOT bad, you bought the wrong solenoid. The push button provides the ground in the circuit. Try this, run a short wire from the battery side of the solenoid to the other small terminal, then try the push button. Safety first make sure it's in neutral before doing...

    Bad spark plug wire?

If that plug is the furtherest from the radiator, that is cylinder #4. I wire tied my plug wires to the outside of the tube and I ran my coil and alternator wires through the tube like it looks like you have. A pair of needle nose pliers might be able to straighten that plug end as it doesn't...

    Tim Daley passsing

I'm a relatively new member here and I respected what Tim had to say. Because of him I did buy the manuals for my 8n before I split the tractor to install a clutch and sherman transmission and read that section thoroughly. I am the type that when everything else fails read the book, but I did...

    Replace clutch assembly on 8n

Some one here had similar issue I think. The pin holding the clutch throw out forks was loose on the shaft? Or need to make longer eye bolt on clutch linkage?

    Replace clutch assembly on 8n

Were you able to adjust clutch pedal so it had 1/2 inch of play? I put one in a few months ago and it took almost all the adjustment to set the free play

    Tractor HP recommendations…

A Ford 800 gas with a loader might fit your criteria. At one time I used a Ford 600 with a loader and it had power steering and I used it with a post hole digger. I don't think power steering was standard on it. Anything newer will be in the 10,000 price range if you can even find that.

Kohler engine rebuild progress and questions

The Kohler k series engine is a very rebuildable engine. I have done many in the day. Yes that cylinder should be bored, a machine shop will tell how much oversize. You have not mentioned the crankshaft. I would always turn the crank .10 under and put a new matching rod in. See if you can...

    Ford Jubilee loader?

I installed a Ford 701 ( standard 68) loader on my 8n this winter. It had a pipe frame jungle Jim loader on it, I was tired on climbing on the back to get on tractor. Just be aware of the limitations of the tractor. It will move some dirt or stone but don't plan to move mountains. Not much...

    Ford 800 factory loader

I bought a model 701 standard 68 loader to mount on my 8n. It came off an 800.

Ford NAA Front Mount pump shaft stripped

Glad you got it back together, has to be satisfying to have it work again. Hope you had a warm building to work in.

Ford NAA Front Mount pump shaft stripped

My bolt was 1/2 course thread by 1 inch I think? You are going to want to replace the bushing in your axle while your doing it also. I had to chisel mine out but it was worn almost through. Loaders put extra wear on front end parts. Plan to pull hood and radiator off to get access. Not what...

Ford NAA Front Mount pump shaft stripped

The pivot pin is a tube with the flange on one end to bolt it in. The pump shaft runs through the middle. Part of it that's left is what is holding your tractor up. Jack the front of your tractor up to take the pressure off it and maybe try to pry it back. It's going to have to come out and be...

Ford NAA Front Mount pump shaft stripped

Your axle pivot pin should be bolted to the front frame with one bolt. Depending on how your loader mounts you may need to remove your front loader mount to get to it? There is a bushing in the front axle also. I replaced the pin and bushing on mine due to slop in the front end. There is a guy...

Ford NAA Front Mount pump shaft stripped

Just replaced the shaft on my 8n loader. Did the same thing you described. I had to remove the pump, to do that I had to drain all the hydraulic oil. Shaft splines were stripped. I couldn't see the condition of the internal splines. I ordered a new shaft after measuring it and a new front...

    Ford 8N clutch replacement

I just did one last month, not a big job but it is a job. Mine was starting to slip, your's might just need adjusting to get it to fully release. How much play do you have in your peddle, should be no more than 3/4 inch. Too much play wont let the clutch release. The pin in the adjustment...

Harbor freight or tractor supply wire welder

I bought a clone of a Hobart 140 welder for about $300. Didn't work out of the box. I just didn't want to spend $500. After returning first welder I went to Tractor supply and bought a Hobart 140. Ask if they could do better on price and knocked 10% off. So I did spend 500 but I got a good...
