The belts weren't all that difficult to replace-- being confronted with rusted seized bolts in tight locations, I was borderline overthinking this project. I ended up removing the six bolts that hold the "gearbox platform" platform to get clearance to slip the belts on and off. A nice new... -

Thanks, Winston. Those sections of the manual weren't too bad at 3 Mb apiece. But-- amazingly-- they covered everything <U><s></s>but<e></e></U> replacing the belts. Back to square one. Nice little mower, and thankfully the belts won't need to be replaced that often. --Bill -

After much hammering I got the driveshaft sections to move by 1/16" and I could see that the outer section had overriden and jammed onto an errant "weld overspray" where the inner section was welded to the u-joint yoke. A careful hacksaw cut through the outer tube and hopefully _just_to_ the... -

Yep, Blacksmithery is in order here. I talked to a tractor-knowledgeable friend at Church today, and one problem might be that the sliding-joint of the driveshaft might be jammed together (in addition to rusted). The driveshaft is about as long as it can be, as-fitted. Careful Hacksawing... -

PTO-Mower shaft frozen
Setting it up for the first time since I bought it used, the PTO-Mower (drive) shaft is frozen along the "axial sliding joint" direction. It won't lengthen or shorten. Initially I tapped on it with a hammer while it was on the (Sitrex) mower, but decided not to bang on those bearings too... -

Yep, that's it. Mine has a 3x2 plug with one connection not used (5-position). Has the same three colored wires as yours, but with an extra Blue and a White. That thermostart control box is not included in the generic schematic in my general "Operation Manual" so I need to do more digging... -

Checked out the Thermostart assembly: no heat, and no 12v to it, and the fuse "looked good", so next warm snap I'll start tracing wires. The Thermostart assembly is probably good, it had 12 ohms resistance, which is about 12 watts, a reasonable ballpark figure. It does seem to be a typical... -

And after checking the AC output from the alternator, the DC output from the regulator/diode board should be 13-ish (but below 14v) volts, measured at the thick Red wire that goes to the battery. You'll always need 13+ volts to keep a 12v battery charged. The glowing GEN light means that there... -
