    Sorry for the delay replying. I have heard of brazed mufflers that have lasted for years on gravely Ls but I don't think it is a sure thing. I have no first hand experience with it.

    The Autolite 3076 is the right plug and the easiest one to find. The gap should be .033. Broken mufflers are pretty common. If the bolt holes on the head are damaged, most weld stud in place of the original bolt. If its the manifold thats damaged, just buy a new one. They are pretty cheap...

    tl is right on. The oil drain he/she described however, is for newer Model Ls. A 1947, should have a normal drain plug on the chassis casting in between the wheels. The engines were wet sumps until sometime in 1958 so you will probably find a second, smaller plug either under the tractor or...
