    Cub starter source

Thanks for the information about J.P. Tractor. Friendly folks and they had a starter at a good price. The shipment was prompt and the starter arrived and works fine.

    Cub starter source

I have a 1950 Cub converted to 12v with a bad starter and it looks like the armature needs to be replaced. The estimated cost is significantly more than the prices listed for replacement starters, but every place that I've looked says they are on back order or not available. I am in Eastern PA...

    Air in Jubilee Hydraulics

We didn't get much more snow, so I limped through the winter priming the pump the few times we needed it. I also got the parts to rebuild the seal around the pump shaft, but haven't installed it yet (may need to take it somewhere with a press). However, when I pulled the tractor out of the shed...

    Air in Jubilee Hydraulics

I have a 1953 Jubilee with the auxiliary hydraulic valve that operates the cylinder on the front snowplow. I've been using this for about 20 years year around, doing mowing, raking hay, pulling wagons, and plowing snow. I had the 3 point system repaired (O-ring on piston had broken) while the...

Free up a stuck CUB clutch?

I agree with the comment that the throwout bearing is gone. I have a 1950 Cub that gets used a lot and have gone through many of these since the original graphite bearing system. The ball or roller bearing replacements don't tolerate the release mechanism that pushes at an angle. When the modern...

pulley on Mower Deck 1966 Cub Lo Boy International Harve

While you may well have another issue, your comment about the previous belt lasting many years caught my attention. I have a similar Woods 59 deck under my regular Cub and had an issue with belts failing relatively soon. I was buying kevlar belts identified as specific replacements for that...

    Jubilee Implements

I've been using my Jubilee for 20 years here on the farm, and it is my favorite of 4 different sized tractors. I bought it as a semi-rusted relic that needed some repair, but it included a nice Woods 72 rear mount and most of all a front mount snow plow and the rare front hydraulic attachment to...

    Jubilee stuck in gear

I was in a hurry to finish mowing so I could free up the Jubilee I've had for nearly 20 years for helping with hay which we have now cut (this has been the tractor of choice for tedding and raking). Alas, I slipped going from 3rd to 2nd and got into 1st for a moment, but then the shifter locked...

    Jubilee stuck in gear

Thanks for the reply. Alas, I can't get the top cover off as the shift rod is stuck in whatever gate combination it is stuck in. I can lift the edge about 1/4 and peer through the fill hole, but that's it. I moved the one gate I can reach to no avail. I am now considering trying to pull the...

    Re: Jubilee transmission

Thanks for the reply. I did try rocking the tractor back and forth, but was unable to budge the shift lever. I was trying to find a way to turn the engine backwards, but remembered that the engine was running when this happened and had to issues as long as the clutch was in. Even with the clutch...

    Jubilee transmission

Well, this just happened to me. I was in a hurry to finish mowing so I could free up the Jubilee I've had for nearly 20 years for helping with hay starting tomorrow. Alas, I slipped going from 3rd to 2nd and got into 1st for a moment, but then the shifter locked up and will not move. I am unable...

    Baling loose hay

We have had a pretty good year with 2 cuttings and good pasture growth, so we have an unusually large pile of loose hay in the barn where we want to store the 3rd cutting. I am thinking of trying to bale it by tossing it into the NH 311 baler driven by an IH 674 tractor, but concerned that there...

    Jubilee Loss of RPM

I had that symptom on mine when I used some old gas. Fresh fuel solved the problem.

    OT: Gas resistant epoxy

Is that a plastic tank? I had no luck trying to patch a hole in a chainsaw tank with a stick on patch as it would not stay on the plastic once gas hit it. But an under $20 plastic weld kit from Walmart did the job and it was easy to use and stayed fixed. That kit later proved useful repairing...

Almost ready to buy a Farmall Cub

I have used a cub on our farm for 30 years, and it is a fine little tractor. One of the nice things is that it is very easy to drive and the wife and kids had no problem using it. Make sure the one you are interested in has hydraulics. Accessories like the front plow, sickle bar mower, and belly...

    generator test?

Thanks for all the detailed info. I am on the road and won't be able to look at the tractor and my manuals for a week, but I wondered if there is a way to read the voltage on the generator while the tractor is running? My thought was that since the regulator just cuts the generator in and out of...

    generator test?

I've operated a Ford Jubilee for about 20 years after a very light, mostly appearance restoration, although some routine repairs have been normal like regular oil changes, repairing the radiator, rebuilding the hydraulic pump, repairs to the the 3-point, rebuilding the starter, replacing the...

    Re: Ammeter on 8N

The ammeter on old Ford tractors measured the current passing through a wire with a small loop on the back of the gauge that the wire passed through with no physical connection to the wire. To attach a new ammeter you need to cut that wire and attach each end to one of the posts on the new...

Ford jubilee im at my end of trying

Are you getting fuel in the carburetor? Is the carb flooded (plugs wet)? If you have spark the electrics are probably OK, although the wiring is suspect from your description. =Vic=

    cub wont start

Not an uncommon problem with older cubs. Usually it is a problem with brushes that can be fixed in the moment by tapping the back side of the starter housing, but sometimes it seems to get stuck in a spot where pulling it, rotating the shaft, and reinstalling it will work.
