want to buy: case vac motor

If it just started, an O-ring in one of the liners could have failed or even a bad head gasket. What have you done to diagnose the issue? What makes you think it is a cracked block? Did the block freeze up over the winter? Overheat the engine?

    Premixed Fuel

Do you have any VP race fuel dealers in the area? I buy VP SEF (small engine fuel) for $75 for a 5 gallon can. Have had zero issues (carb and bad/melted fuel lines) with my chainsaws since using it. I buy straight their straight gas and add my own oil (Lubrication Engineers 8104)...

    VAC Brake Rivets

Does anyone know what size the rivets for a VAC's brake lining (non-disk) is supposed to be? I bought the linings 20 years ago from a CaseIH dealer, but they never came with the rivets....and soon a brake-job will be happening. The VAC book has a part # 02762AB1, which doesn't help. It's...

Best chainsaw - just for occasional use

Depending on how far away you are from an outlet, an electric chainsaw might be best. No gas to go stale, no carb issues, no starting issues....just plug in and cut. Another option is if the saw is going to be used very infrequently is a battery powered saw. Again: no gas, carb, starting issues...

    new VAC manifolds

My concern with getting a used one is the bolts that hold the elbow that bolts to the manifold. If it is rotten or in bad shape and fails, good luck in removing those 60 year old rusted bolts that hold it onto the exhaust to replace it.

    new VAC manifolds

Has anyone bought/installed the new replacement VAC intake/exhaust manifold? Just curious if they are cast and machined decent? Also wondering if the country of origin is cast on the manifold? I'm assuming it's cast in china and really don't want to see china cast into it each time I walk by or...

Why not just replace it yourself? And then you know you have a machine that will last a lifetime. It is easy to do.....did a Skill 77 myself a couple years ago.

Led lights for 24X30 shop (11' high)

I went with this companies LED tubes: https://hyperikon.com/shop/ They can be gotten on Amazon cheaper. My problem was I had 8' T-12HO, so I had to replace the tombstone ends to the dual pin design like a "normal" T-12 or T-8. I also wanted to make them 4', so I found a person on e-bay...

    Lights in the new shop.

I would look at LED bulbs that will replace T-8's and eliminate the ballast as well. Very bright and cost less to run than florescence tubes. I went with 5000K, both frosted and un-frosted. I like this company's bulbs (can be bought cheaper on Amazon): https://hyperikon.com/shop/

VAC axle and rear center keyway

Trying to replace the rear axle seals on my VAC and after 4 hours of struggling to remove the center and it's 65 year old frozen bolts, we got it out and the center apart. Now the question: on the axle key, there was a broken/shaved piece of steel coming out of it. looking in the parts book...
