    Remember Hugh MacKay

I got to thinkin' as I was reading here this morning and thought...seems like it was October 23 that Hugh passed. He was a very frequent poster on the Farmall and IH board. Hugh wasn't afraid to offer his opinion, albeit at times it would stir some folks BUTT back in that day, on this site, some...

    Allis Chalmers B 1 ?'s

DoubleO7; yup, claims it is factory new and not been mowing any lawns. I dug and found Carlisle started in 1917 BUTT, I agree with my friend that originals would have been something else. The Carlisle's on the mower were 'very interesting' to him. I appreciate your reply.

    Allis Chalmers B 1 ?'s

Had a friend call me this evening with ?'s after looking at mower for sale at what he thought was a crazy price of $3200 that owner said was original and had not mowed a lawn. What brand tire came on this mower? He said Carlisle tires on mower had nipples on them and had a newer rubber smell...

    2023.03.26 Round Barn

kcm.MN"; thanks for the round barn picture. Several years ago I took photographs of all the remaining round barns in Wisconsin. Advantages touted were ease of feeding from a center silo as animals were close. Circular in design those close heads made for more room on the cattle's other end for...

Looking for WC styled-in good condition

October 2006 just before dad's auction, dad asked if I wanted his 1937 unstyled AC WC and I said no as I'm into the IH 60 series. I'm not color blind as I am the second owner of a 1955 CA that is in it's work clothes and I retain for no good reason...anyway, dad had restored it completely and...

Pictures from the Allis show in Baraboo

Thanks for sharing. Wonderful photography work, filling the viewfinder with the subject!! Overcast light is great as detail is visible; harsh sunlight would create shadows and much less detail. Blue Ribbon - first place work.

    Allis Chalmers decals

Took day off Friday and helped a friend haul equipment to a show. I'm second owner of a 1955 CA and was curious if many dealers back then didn't have decals put on tractors and other equipment branded AC. Talked with a few folks and they don't recall the now extinct dealership having any...

    JD LT180

Update: I had been using 87 octane gas. the container was empty and I decided to get 91 octane w/no ethanol. Filled tank late evening, so much dew I decided to quit mowing for the evening. 180 sat for ~ 12 days in shed and I decided I would move it into garage to peek at carb and blow out...

Issue with engine bogging down after mowing last week for about an hour. Next evening I mowed for about a half hour. Next evening I mowed for a few minutes then engine quits. CA long time sitting-Sea Foam in cylinders ?

Jim.ME" Or are you just trying to put some lube in the cylinders for the sake of lubing it before cranking it over during starting? Jim; bingo. I should have stated that. Is Sea-Foam going to do that. No reason to think it won't but, just tinkin' a little preventative measure. Thanks.

CA long time sitting-Sea Foam in cylinders ?

Second owner of 1955 wide-front CA. Had it sitting in garage ~ 6 years; water in sediment bowl lead to dropping bowl; replaced; lead to replacing radiator hoses, lead to install new temp gauge, lead to getting new light-charging switch; dropped it and broke it internally; lead to ordering new...
