Steering effort 8N vs 860
Also keep the front axle kingpins well greased. I grease mine until grease squirts out the top of the interface between the kingpin and front axle.....does make a difference. Case in point: I recently bought a tractor that had a hydraulic cylinder mounted on the front axle to steer the front... -

2 inch water well casing with some gravel in the bottom couple of feet...
Gravel has a lot of air space that sand or mud lack. At the bottom of a standpipe in a well, seems to me that gravel can help to insure that you will have a pool of water from which to suck water......at least initially. Static pressure will drive water up the pipe to the ambient pool level... -

Finally, something I actually NEED for my tool box.
".....the cursing seems to be holding its own....." Not proud of it necessarily, and working alone there is no one to be offended, but for me, a little profanity after a screwup resulting in personal injury, just soothes the pain and its over and done with....no lingering misgivings. -

Like "reiterate" being the accepted reaction without something first being repeated the first time which is to "iterate".....then you can reiterate.....course if in certain circles, you are trying to impress folks like you actually know something........and don't. -

Now would be a good time for me to quit.

Best Budget Friendly Digital Torque Wrench
Well sir.....in your published instance, I would take my "beam" wrench to set the torque on a bolt. Then I would grasp my digital snapper and check its accuracy. If it snapped when it was supposed to, I would surely use it for your published task...... -

Cost 0f 3600 repair

Depends on the load, weight, terrain, shape, tires and condition of the front axle and steering. Iterating, what I said earlier, loaders on those older Fords block your accessibility to your engine compartment besides the smaller tractors just weren't beefy enough for loaders doing any kind of... -

If I were doing what you propose, if the 2200 series offers a loader I would be inclined to go that route. Today's tractors are designed for loaders with bracing that doesn't block your access to the engine area and smaller diameter, wider foot print dimensions that support steering with heavy... -

More Bush Hog shear pin issues.
Grade 2 smear when they shear rather than snap like higher torque range bolts.....makes finding the hole in the shaft to punch out the remnants easier to find. I had problems with bolts shearing (including Grade 5) on worn equipment until I used a self locking nut and didn't screw it all the...- Texasmark

I like the "old school" rod indicating type because I can see where the torque is going as I get to my destination. I also have a snapper but seldom use it because I never know if it's going to snap when it supposed to. Having broken numerous bolts when learning my mechanicing skills....head... -

Thanks for the reply sir. In researching this subject more this AM, I found out that CIH uses the same PTO parts and arrangement for all the series of X95s. Well I went to their site, registered, posted my question and awaiting any reply.....hopefully one that I can do. I do not want to pull the whole shaft and PTO clutch assy. especially having never done it and working alone....the manual suggests getting help if you remove the whole assy!- Texasmark

You have my attention sir.....mine is with the deluxe cab so I guess it's an 895XL. As I mentioned on my Fords, when you pull the outer cover off with the PTO shaft still in place, the seal is in the cover....makes perfect sense. Are you positively telling me that on this tractor the same...- Texasmark

Got my hay baled but had hydraulic fluid splattered all over the rear of the CIH 895. I have the service manuals for the 895 and the 395 and the parts list for the 395. Apparently the company used the same PTO parts for a series of their tractors. In looking for that repair the closest I get...- Texasmark

Re: Update on new Stihl pole saw
Decades ago, a neighbor was helping me get my hay up prior to a rain. Things were going pretty good until he stopped. I went over to see why and he said: "I just baled my glasses". Never forgot that and always took steps to keep it from happening. -

What was your longest tractor ride?
I can relate to that.....over and over and over. Still making mistakes on how I am supposed to take care of my body at my age and seems I'm spending more time in the hospital.......buttttt I am learning....hospitals and the beds where you can't get out without an alarm going off certainly made...- Texasmark
