    Big Bee Brushhog

Are you sure the shaft doesn't have a slight twist to it? Impact loads can cause this (not uncommon with brush mowers). I had that issue with a JD 717 mower. Local shop cut out old shaft (from u joints) and welded in a new one. Works fine now.

Bat Wing Mower - Mowing with a Wing Vertical

Have a Rhino SR15 Flex-wing mower. (Batwing seems to be a Woods Equipment brand name) Operator's manual says to only run mower when wings are down. I have seen some local folks use their flex wing mowers to trim hedges, with one wing up (vertical, or near vertical). Any thoughts on that?

What is the deal with the front tires on this tractor?

1963 Ford 2000 cranks, runs, sputters, dies

One thought on your photo... I've had issues with in-line fuel filters on gravity flow systems (without a pump, gravity fuel struggles to flow well through a filter). You might want to try running it with that filter by-passed. If that doesn't work, try this... Remove air intake hose from...

    New tractor

And the lettering looks great. That was the first thing to go on our old Ford.

    Subsoiler

John - Frankly, I would call your local ag extension office and ask for their guidance. They will be much more aware of the facts on what it takes to manage soils and crops in your area/climate.

    New tractor

Wow! That looks really good for just pressure washing! But, the tough stuff has likely just begun! Good luck.

    Plastic Oil Pan

Hmmm. The Detroit Series 60 had some sort of non-metallic oil pan. And that was 30 years ago! They seemed to hold up pretty well.

    new Zero turn mower choices

Friend said a local big dealer (America Pride, Zanesville, OH), who deals in multiple brands, steered him to Hustler. Longer warranty. Might be worth a look.

    Relatively cheap anti sway

Those look great. Very similar design to the later New Holland system. Just paint it blue, and it will look factory!

Ford diesel tractor will not turn over

Maybe you're way ahead of me, but I'll share some of my dirty laundry... Similar tractor... 1973 Ford 4000 SU. Just stopped starting one day. Started testing wires. Voltages all seemed right. Replaced solenoid and key switch. Could not get it to crank. Messed with it a bit more... Turns...

    1958 Ford 641… It Lives!

Dad’s old 641 has been sitting in the back of the barn for about 2 years. Took the 14 year old 6 volt battery home, and put in on intermittent charge for about a week. Hooked it up today… Turned it over a bit with the ignition off, until it had some oil pressure… Then turned on the key, and...

    Steering effort 8N vs 860

A wider mower on the back of a 860 makes for easier steering! We had a 6 foot brush mower on the back of dad's 641. If it was up in the air, much of our steering was done with the brakes!

    Shuttle Shift Tractors ????

I'm a big fan of the 5000 series Deere Power Shuttle system (others are likely similar). One item, as mentioned by Bob, is that the tractor no longer has a dry clutch to wear out. One factor, you'll want to think about is do you look for a mechanically activated system (like our 5320), or the...

    Stripping 3000 for transport

I don't see where you have said how far the new tractor is from you. Given your lack of owning the needed equipment, I'd suggest getting a quote from a local rollback operator. Weigh that against your cost to rent the trailer, buy gas, take time, with your buddy's truck. The Ford 3000 is well...

    Smokey '73 Allis-Chalmers 200

Hmmm... You can't get the filter out? Perhaps it's been quite a while since anyone replaced that filter. Not a Allis expert, but does it have a air filter restriction gauge? If it doesn't, does it have a port that you can connect up a vacuum gauge? Thinking anything more than 20" water is...
