    What cold cranking amps is recommended for a 1964 4000 diesel? The battery I have in it just won't spin it fast enough when the temp drops below freezing. Thanks Paul

    Ford tractors

    For a some time I have noticed that there are few Early Fords in the pictures posted from various tractor shows. Is Ford just not popular to restore? There seems to be plenty of them still around.

    Diesel in oil

    The fuel might be coming from the fuel return lines. I just had this problem with a 4000 4 cyl. and found there was a leak from the fuel return line under the valve cover. The fuel line has solder joints at the return line fittings that bolt to the top of the injector. Mine had a crack at one of...

    OT How to kill moles

    I have heard that planting a castor bean would keep them out. My grand parents did this to keep them out of their garden. Castor beans are poison so wouldn't be good around children.

    1964 ford 4000

    Thanks! I will see if I can get a seal from my dealer. Its hard to tell if there is a leak where that seal is because oil splashes on that area with the engine running. How does the fuel get back to the crankcase if the stand tube is missing? It does seem to happen fairly quickly if the fuel...

    1964 ford 4000

    I am getting diesel fuel into my crankcase. I found a leak on the return line under the valve cover and repaired it but fuel is still finding its way to the oil. How can one tell if the pump is leaking into the oil pan? Also there is a seal of some sort where the return line goes into the head...

    Paint remover

    Can you purchase oven cleaner? I have used that with good results. I just spray it on and let it set for 20 minutes or so and then pressure spray. It takes off grease and old paint well but not so good on newer paint. Be sure to wear protective gear one wouldn't want to get that stuff into the eyes.

    Accident with The Jubilee!!!

    I have a 64 ford 4000. It started on it's own one day. Lucky the fuel lever ( diesel ) was off and it was out of gear or it would have left. Bad start solenoid !! I saw 64 ford truck do the same thing only it was in gear and it moved forward until it ran into a slab pile.

    Taylor Fence Inc. makes a good solar charger. They are built in the U.S.A. Google them. They are a little more expensive but worth it. Paul

    Ford 600 tractor

    I have a 64 Ford 4000 diesel. I replaced the rear seal a couple of times using the rubber seal. I finally gave up and put in a rope seal and it didn't leak. Trying to get the halves of the rubber seal to length where it will seal was the problem with the rubber. The rope is more forgiving.

    return lines

    Yep it was leaking at the #1 injector. The line is cracked right in the solder joint. Didn't feel there would be much need to try to resolder it the way it is cracked. Thanks!!

    return lines

    Does anyone know where I might find a fuel return line assembly for a 1964 Ford diesel? I am looking for the assembly that is under the rocker cover and goes to each injector. It is a 172 cubic inch 4 cylinder. Thanks

    fuel in oil

    I didn't think about the lines under the rocker cover. Thanks !! I hope that is where the problem is it should be easier to repair and less $$$.

    fuel in oil

    I am getting fuel into the crank case. I have 47 hours on the tractor after rebuild. I had the injector pump rebuilt at the same time. It has added around a quart + in the 47 hours. Iwouldn't think it is the pump any ideas? The tractor is a 1964 Ford 4000 172 diesel.
