148 FEL on JD2640

Hey everyone, thanks for reading my question. I have a JD 148 loader w/front and rear attach frame that I'm "hoping" to fit onto my 2640. From reading a thread here from 10 years ago, I understand that (potentially) I could mount the 148 on a 146 frame. So a couple of questions come to mind, 1) anyway I could use what I have and mount the 148 to my 2640? 2) if that's not feasible, does anyone have experience with putting a 148 on 146 frames? I've attached pics of my tractor and the loader, hopefully that helps!

Masts part # AW16036 & boom AW16048 for 146 & 148 part #s for FEL's are identical so both models will mount on either style mounting brackets. https://partscatalog.deere.com/jdrc...ch/pgId/11607480/partnumber/AW16036/callout/2
Thanks for your reply and the link, @Tx Jim I appreciate that! Would you mind if I got your opinion on how to mount the 148 frames to my 2640? I was working on that in the barn today and before I start cutting metal away, I'd like to get some other opinions.

You're welcome.
Which mounting frames do you have? Some mounting brackets that attached to rear axle housings were designed for rowcrop tractors & other style to rear axle housing were designed for utility tractors. https://partscatalog.deere.com/jdrc/sidebyside/equipment/58056/referrer/navigation/pgId/11594569 https://partscatalog.deere.com/jdrc/sidebyside/equipment/58056/referrer/navigation/pgId/11504327 https://partscatalog.deere.com/jdrc/sidebyside/equipment/58056/referrer/navigation/pgId/11489131

I think I would put holes in mounting brackets to match holes in tractor side frames.

Honestly, that was my thinking as well. I don’t want to ruin the integrity of the frame by cutting the 90°, rather just open up enough area (1) to pass the bolts through to the tractor frame. I’d also put in a spacer (3) between the loader frame and tractor frame. Then cut off the remaining (3) do I can put my step back on.

The 148 utility frame was made for 6 cylinders tractors. The 146 frame is shorter. You need to shorten the front of the mount some. Compare your install with google pictures of a 4 cylinderswith 146 loader.
