1550 Power Beyond

Finally got power beyond hooked up and working but having 3pt issues. It took a couple of minutes to get hydraulics after starting, loader worked okay but 3 point wouldn’t raise. I topped off reservoir and lift arms finally came up but won’t drop when I push the lever ahead. They usually settle down, see if they are still up tomorrow. Any ideas?

Push the lever part way till the arms start to drop, then all the way. You probably got some air in the system. Adding the loader increased the fluid volume a lot. The lift shouldn't settle on it's own with the engine off.

Figured it out today. Lift arms were down so I started it and they raised but wouldn’t lower until I pushed the outside lever on the tractor. I switched the 2 return hoses on the valve and now it works like it should. Simple when you figure it out.

Are you the guy who added electric power steering on a 88?

Not me. I did put a JD 148 loader on my 1550. PO had put a Pioneer valve on it but his 4020 was closed center, I cut the small end off the plug to make it open center. Ran two hoses across the floorboard behind the shifter and up to the valve from the bottom. Don't interfere with my feet or hang down. I made up a bypass with fittings in a J shape to go on the lines if I take the loader off.
