But that's all for tonight. We're bushed!

So where are the tractors? ...Lemme put it this way -- we both feel like we've been run over by tractors. *lol*

Those are some nice looking berries in those pictures. Raspberry pie and cobbler are one of my best desserts. And that is what happens to most of our black caps si into pie or cobbler during the picking season. Don't hardly get enough to save.

I lost most of my berry crop. I only have 1 row about 50 ft long. After the third picking Japanese beetles moved in. The bushes were just black with them so were the couple grape vines I have. There were even places on my lawn were there would be groups of 50 or more. Also the were so thick flying above the berries that it reminded me of black birds gathering in the fall. I sprayed them with Sevin. A few hours later the ground was black, covered with them. A few days later after just enough rain to wash the Sevin off more moved in. Then, they were also in the bushes around the house. I hit them with Sevin again. Never had them before and the neighbors say that they don't have them. Guess I'm just lucky!

Get you a couple of cheap beetle traps.
They start coming to the bait as you hang it up.
You will have to empty it a bunch. into a bucket with a little diesel fuel or something.

With 27 consecutive days 100+, 11 consecutive 105+ and no rain in almost 2 months, those green berry bushes with fruit sure looked good.

I forgot to add that I had two beetle traps and they caught a pile of them but there were so many bugs that it didn't hardly seem like they were keeping up. I was like they would catch one beetle and four more would show up.
