330 IHC utility fluids

Got it

New User
I located the transmission fill plug under left foot rest.0n the same level but 15” closer to front of tractor was another plug. I filled with hydraulic oil and then it was leaking out of clutch inspection cover. I removed cover and I saw a large threaded hole that the oil was leaking from.Should there be a plug in there or is this something for a torque amplifier which I do not have? Thanks

Hello!

You have an IPTO right?

I have never driven a 330U but on the row crop 300/350 tractors, the fill port for the transmission is a plate right near where the gear shift lever goes into the transmission. You still have to fill the front case through the level plug though.

Anyways, the second thing is this. I don't know what fluids you put in, but the transmission and front case should have 80-90 weight oil or something like that, not hydraulic oil. The hydraulics are a separate system on these tractors.

Now on to the leaky pipe hole. If your tractor has no TA but IPTO, this (circled) is the pipe plug hole I presume you are talking about. It doesn't do anything except seal the transmission. Now if you don't have a plug there, that might be a problem. You should have a plug there, unless you have no TA and no PTO. Then it should be an untapped hole.

Is there any way you can take pictures to make sure we are on the same page?

Good luck!

Yea, I think that's supposed to have a plug in it. 😄 Thanks for posting those pictures.

Like I said earlier, those 2 housings you put fluid into should have 80-90 weight gear oil, not hydraulic oil.

Does that hole in the front case (TA housing) feel like the threads are stripped? I hope not, because I don't know why someone would just take that plug and leave it out. Weird.

I don't know if that plug would be NPT thread or pipe thread, you might be on your own for that one. I would guess pipe thread but I'm not sure.

If you wanted to play it safe, there most likely salvage yards that would have that plug for cheap, I don't know where you are located though. If you wouldn't mind sharing your approximate location, I'm sure someone could chime in and find a yard near you.

Well, if you are confused or have any other questions please ask, otherwise good luck!
