I got a 350 John Deere crawler and the right steering clutch and brake need replacing. My question is do i need to split the track and take apart the final drive to remove the clutch and brake? I havent started this project yet but was wondering what i needed to do. Thanks for any help.

Yes, the final drive has to come off, and you likely will want to break the chain. You will possibly need to remove the track frame.

If you do not have the John Deere service manual for your 350, the first thing you need to do is to invest in one now, and study it, before you start on the project. It describes what you need to do and has info you will need to check component and specs/adjustments required.

Which 350 model you have makes a difference in the manual required.

Service Manual for a straight 350 is JD publication SM 2063.

Service Manual for a 350B is JD publication TM 1032.

Service Manual for 350C and 350D is JD publication TM1115.
