552 baler & 3000 ford

Hi everyone
wondering if anyone can tell me if a ford 3000 diesel can operate a 552 ford round baler
You are at the bottom of recommended power. You might struggle a bit with a full bale, especially going up a hill, but I would think it would run it in most circumstances. Just drop a gear if you run out of power. The 552 looks very similar to the older Gehl belt balers. Those, the Gehls, didn't take a lot of power to run as they didn't make a real tight bale.

Not familiar with a 552 Ford baler. If a square baler then surely, if a round baler would have to be a mightly small roll. A 4x5 or 5x4 roll, needs 55 HP at the PTO to do a good job, even on level terrain. I have a 3000 and have had a Ford and NH square balers, neither stressing the 3000.

I had one for a few years as a backup for my 605D Vermeer, it was alright but I always thought it was slower than the Vermeer. And I do believe they were a rebadged Gehl. Sent ours down the road after upgrading the main baler. Never had to buy any parts for it while I owned it but it did have some red parts on it, Gehl I would guess.
