830 hydraulic and trans diff oil

How many gallons of oil does the rear end hold and is Hytran the oil to use. I should change mine before winter. Thanks for the help. At least this winter it will start if I need it.

About 17 gallons if the Tranny-Diff & Hyd. housing are combined. Very early 830's had a separate Hyd. Housing. If you have an 830 w/ separate housings, 85W140 for the Tranny-Diff & Hy-Tran for the Hyd's. All other 830's, Hy-Tran. I add about a gallon of 85W140 to the thin Hy-Tran. If I lived in a warmer climate I'd add more 85W140. Adds life to the bearings and Hyd. Pump.
