hi, i recently bought a 94 belarus 5170 and i dont find much info or part about it. they build those only 2 year. i would like to know what is the closest model

5170 is more or less an 825 that is painted black and red with a different gearshift.

5270 newer, but could be had with the 9/8 shuttle rather than the 18/4

Has anyone out there has any luck with Belarus tractors ?? I have not heard of any .

Have a 530 with loader, bought new in 1993. Ugly, crude and 60's technology. Been nearly flawless. Only back to the selling dealer once for a repair that I just didn't want to do myself. Have taken more than my fair share of "verbal abuse/chiding", but the damn thing refuses to not perform. Not my only tractor (have MF, NH and JD) but reliable enough to keep (besides, no re-sell value whatsoever)!

Has anyone out there has any luck with Belarus tractors ?? I have not heard of any .

They were a brief "flash in the pan" in the early 80's when the farming economy was in the dumps. Farmers couldn't afford the "mainstream" brand tractors but still needed new tractors. Brands like Same and Belarus were brought in as cheap alternatives. The Belarus dealer here was a fly by night operation run out of a rented garage. Didn't sell many tractors. They disappeared in a year or so..

I never seen any that was good. Had dealer close by. Sold a lot and had a back lot full of junkers years later. Finally sold them for scrap. He also sold Ford New Holland. Neighbor had one had trouble finding the right gear to run in. Never knew what gear he was in. Didn’t run most time. Always broke down. Had trouble with rear wheel centers breaking while cutting hay. Finally sold it very cheap just to get off farm.

We had a 5170. It was not a bad tractor for what it was. If you dislike oil leaks keep your distance. Ours was abused as a loader tractor, often with a Long backhoe hanging on it for ballast. Suffered a broken shift fork, that had a poor weld, and had to put in a clutch when the throw out bearing went out. Ran it for a number of years until it was replaced by a proper loader backhoe.
