A/C B/C mid mount sickle mower

So I am trying to bring this back to working order. Back in 2015 the C it was on was almost under water so it was under water. Got it off the C it was on today and I was going to just use the cylinder that was on it but when I took the hose off the cylinder it self water ran out of the cylinder. Not sure how water got into the cylinder but I plan to use the cylinder that was on the snow plow lift I had to take off to mount the mower which I hope to get mounted tomorrow. So how did the water get in the cylinder with a closed set up other then maybe the shifter boot

I don't think those cylinders have a piston, the end of the rod is the piston. That's how a lot of the single acting AC cylinders are. If the rod looks OK when extended it is probably OK, just flush out good. Or take it apart and clean it. I would make sure to grease the main shaft bearings and pitman bearing a few times after not much running to flush any water out of them.

I would plan to replace any ball bearings that were submerged on the sickle mower. Check then to see how rough they turn. Between rust and any fine silt that may have got past the seals those ball bearings will likely last a couple of hours at best. Sleeve bearings likely survived.

It was always kept well greased and while I can't turn it all the way over by hand due the the bar being up I can turn it some and it turns easy so I figure a good greasing will probably do it

Swapping the cylinder is a pretty easy thing to do plus the one I have on the plow lift has a quick connect already on it and I was going to have to go buy one so this will save me a few $$

I also have to go to town and buy a number of the high arch hold downs. Right now it has the short ones and that seems to cause problems with bolt on section and also see if I can find a smaller diameter pulley for the PTO. Last time I ran this mower it seemed to run at to high and RPM and shake the tractor and person a whole lot
