A short plowing video....

Though I like using my 540 plow on the 806, I felt the need to dig out the plow I've had for the last (yeesh) 30 years. To give a perspective of time, when I bought it.... $25 - $50 would have been a common auction price for most plows. The plow in this video would bring about 5x that at an auction in Amish country where horses were still being used. At least then.

Can anyone name the plowing outfit here?? (Tractor & plow.)

Also, not to brag.... but I paid $550 for the plow in the vid & the IH 120 mower in my other vids. (And yes, the paint on both was a lot more red then!!)

Even with upkeep & expendables, neither owe me a dime.

It's cutting a nice furrow.

It is, but it's running a bit cockeyed. The heel on the landside is pushing into the furrow wall about 2" - 3". The hitch on the plow is a bit bent, but offset to compensate for that. I suspect the frame is tweaked, too. That seems to be the only issue left. It still folds the soil over like what you'd see in a brochure. It's just not competition worthy with the dog tracking issue.

I have a longer video coming out in standard format that shows what the plow is doing a bit better. I can add some photos to the post to further illustrate what's going on.

Otherwise, that plow pulls easy, is still in good shape & has covered a lot of acres since I got it.

It is facing backwards. I have to run the wheel, dish out on that side so the tire sits right in the furrow. That tire also gets filled to 15 PSI for more bite & the left one is at 10 PSI for more grip.

Figured I should post something on YouTube to let viewers know I'm still alive & done tormenting them with JD slide shows.

The plow did a great job on the Sand Patch.

There's a couple regular format videos of the plowing coming out soon. Today I have to run the disc & springtooth over the Sand Patch & then clean everything off. Have to till the garden & get ready for a chance of severe weather tomorrow. So, probably Friday, with the vids.
