By the way I am not the expert by any means on anything except a
little on stick welding home projects like implements, etc.
But with regard to capacitors, please be careful, if not done just right
you could have some nasty results with the caps at startup with some
lively pops. I would like to know from others if capacitors can be used in stick welding and what the effects are. I just dont know enough about the full field of welding machines to comment.
For me, I think that the nature of the buzz box conversion seems to be fairly sufficient without adding caps.
I kind of like the gentle scratch startup followed by the high energy
sustained light show.
The inductors opposition to change makes the startup gentle and
once ramped up wants to keep what it has.
Conservation of energy according to Heinrich Lenz, hence the L for inductance.
So personally I am happy with no caps for stick welding.
