Wondering if anyone knows how to operate this thing on a planter I just acquired. It looks like a touch screen but there is no opening on the back for batteries.

Probably does have a battery inside, but a sealed unit to prevent tampering. I had an odometer than attaches to wheel for one of my trailers. After a couple of years it died. Took it apart and it did have a battery, but after disassembly, no way to reassembly and have it work. Went with a mechanical unit after that. zuhnc
