hi all,
Looking for help. I have a small shop compressor that comes up to pressure and stops. When you use up some of the air and it's time for the motor to start again, it tries and then blows breaker. It is plugged right to plugin in shop with no cord.also the breaker is 15amp. What can be wrong?

Does the motor have a start capacitor ? That may be the culprit , when empty there is less resistance on the motor when starting , a full or partially full tank provides more load resistance, it shouldn't but does in most practical circumstances. Try a new start capacitor, they are not too expensive, it may be an easy tepair .

your unloader valve may not be working.
Had it happen to a Craftsman air comp I have. a screw from the intake flapper valve had fallen out and went into the unloader valve.

There is a one way valve called a check valve where the air goes into the tank. It's suppose to separate the tank from the line to the pump so the unloader valve can empty the line that goes to the pump so the compressor gets a running start before it starts putting pressure into the tank. When the check valve leaks the tubing is pressurized so the pump is under immediate pressure when it tries to re-start and overtasks the motor.
