Air Condition Compressor

I have a 1998 Honda Civic that was squealing under the hood. It sounded like the air condition compressor so I cut the belt to the clutch on the compressor. The squealing stopped. I am guessing it is the clutch bearing. Can it be both the bearing and clutch? How do I get the bearing out of the clutch to replace it?

Tweeter,
Sounds to me like your compressor locked up. Try turning the compressor over by hand to see if it will turn. Remember, the pulley will "free spin" if the electric clutch is not engaged, so you need to turn the shaft by the connected clutch plate. If it won't turn then you need a new compressor. The system will have to evacuated and flushed and the orifice will have to be replaced. Some places will require a new condensor when the compressor fails due to debris in the system. Also will need to replace the filter/drier and to leak test the system, vacuum and recharge.

And about cutting the belt, I assume it didn't drive anything else--just the compressor? BTW, you'll need a new belt too....
