Steering is sloppy on the 1030. Been that way for about 5 years and decided to fix the u joint under the radiator. Heck of a job in its own but found the u joint only part of the problem. Shaft thru the steering box has 1/2 turn of play. Worm gear moves with the shaft, so must be something with the sector gear.

have you pulled the input shaft out yet? seen them loose there a few times, if I remember right been a while since I worked on one with slack ,, resealed a number of them lately though

Pulled the cap off the front of the shaft and all seems intact. Pulled the pipe plug above the worm gear and it is solid to the shaft. Must be in the sector where the slop is at. Have to get the whole assembly out today.
