as of this morning we have lost Ian Tyson . he was a cowboy and rancher and folk singer who passed away at his ranch in southern alberta at 89 years old. he had lots of good songs. 4 strong winds , navajo rug, someday soon, old corrals and sagebrush, eighteen inches of rain, alberta's child, were a few of them.

Sorry to hear that. He had some very good songs MC Horses, Alcohol In The Bloodstream, Claude Dallas and many more.

Saw Ian perform many times at the Ranchmans bar and dance hall in Calgary. He was a great performer. Have been by his ranch in the foothills many times as well. He will be missed here in southern Alberta.

My introduction to Ian and Sylvia was when they used to occasionally show up on Tommy Hunter's old CBC show. Pure, genuine Canadian Country/Folk songwriters and musicians without the fake southern U.S. accents.

This is from a 1986 reunion/tribute concert:
4 strong winds
