Any Mannheim Experts?

Our 2240 is in need of care from a expert that knows these machines. Does anyone have a "go to guy" for these tractors? Preferably around central Ohio (but I'd trailer it to the right person).

Well… Frankly, I was hoping someone might just know a local Mannheim wizard (There seem to be a lot of Waterloo wizards). But this tractor, as good as it’s been for the past 20 years as my primary trimming around fences and trees mower tractor (7’ JD 717 mower), has some issues I’d like someone, who knows more than I do, look at…
1. 3 point controller does not raise much until lever is almost all the way up. Going down, everything is normal
2. Puts out more white smoke at startup than I’d like. Clears up pretty quickly
3. 2 speed system seems to drag a bit in low. Might be normal.

I’m thinking that someone who knows these machines would say, oh, I’ve seen this before…

If you're wanting someone to work on it, there's always a JD dealer if no one else. Around here, they are $200.00 / hour. Or you might get a manual if you want to work on yourself. I had a 2240 that the three point didn't work right and after doing the adjustments in the manual it worked as it should.

Tx Jim, or someone, will correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't see a Mannheim 2240 is much different than the similar Dubuque models of that vintage. Maybe fewer differences than the older Dubuque and Waterloo differences.

It used the same 3179 engine as the state side tractors. Same 3-point system. Same Collar shift transmission with the optional Hi-Lo as you have. Some parts work on both, some have separate numbers and sometimes the Mannheim parts numbers work on the Dubuque tractors. I know that is the case with the 2030s as parts catalog PC1289 has both Dubuque and Mannheim tractors in it. My 2030 service has both Dubuque and Mannheim 2030 tractors in it.

You're correct there's not much difference between 2240 than other JD utility tractors built during same era. Tim Sweeney has a repair business in Ohio to repair larger JD tractors but I've seen him state he's not fond of repairing JD utility tractors. Hyd systems on JD utility tractors & rowcrop tractors of the same era are very different in design.
