Belarus 820 shifting question

Hey all new member here. I have a Belarus 820 88 mod with the turn knob shifter. Having some problems with 9th gear, works fine while in gear but when i clutch in to put it in neutral/downshit the rpms drop more than what it is at idle almost to the point of stalling and it seems like I cant get it into any other gear before i make a complete stop. Worth mentioning that I am maybe being to careful because I dont want to break anything so I havent tried to use my muscles to get it into another gear while driving. Tried to double clutch though to get it into neutral but that didnt help.

Any advice? Thanks

If I understand 9th is road gear or the highest. No there is no way that I would try to shift down till almost stopped unless you match revs like a semi. I have had 2 of them and they all work that way. they don't seem to be sychro transmissions. When you clutch and the rpms go low it is possible that your throttle linkage is rubbing on the clutch linkage. also I find I often bump the throttle to low while shifting out of that gear. throttle all the way back kills the engine. Mine are 572 and 925, but I think they work the same.

Thank you very helpful! Regarding the rpm drop when clutching it only happens in 9th not 6,7,8 etc so I find it kinda hard to stop at a stop sign for example since i have to clutch, break, change gear and also use the hand lever to increase the rpm so it doesnt stall. If the rpm drop wouldnt happend I would be completely fine with coming to a stop to shift to a lower gear, altough i find it kind of weird that if i were to pull a trailer with heavy load and driving in 9th and coming to a hill and 9th gear cant keep the speed up I have to completly stop to get it into 8th or 7th on the hill. You have any thoughts about this?
