Brake Latch for MF 255

I have a Massey Ferguson 255 that is missing the brake latch. I bought a brake latch assembly online $30 which is sold by many. The item available is too narrow and will not work. A MF dealer looked up the arm of the brake latch assembly, which has two pins and two holes that might be ordered $100 with the pin, pawl and spring sold separately. I would like to have a photo of a MF 255 brake latch that works or information on a used brake latch which works.

We had an MF 65 on our farm and the latch you likely bought looks more like the setup on the 65 than the setup shown on the AGCO 255 parts diagram. Is this is a kit similar to what you bought? ASAP MF brake lock kit
ASAP is the parent company of YT. I would suggest you call them, they may have the parts you need on a salvage machine.

The YT kit is not the correct latch kit for a MF 255, it would work on at least some of the 100 series tractors. If you compare the MF 255 and MF135 parts books the pedals are different and the latch mounts in a different location on the pedal as the quadrants are in different places. The latch and spring might work; I cannot say that without some doubt of them working. The lever is wrong, the MF 255 lever is open on one side and has a pin made in it, as the parts book shows. A clevis pin is not used.

It appears the parts are available from Massey Ferguson. When you check the note to check availability and delivery you will find the part numbers have been superseded. For the lever, latch and spring you are looking at about $160 from Massey, if you can get it on a stock order, you may save freight charges.
