My Uncle decided last year that he wanted to do the Mackinac Bridge crossing. After much talking and planning we joined Buckeye Farm Antiques and made the trip this year. We had 11 tractors in the club and they were a great bunch of guys. We drove up on Wednesday and went to the Sault St Marie locks and Mackinac Island on Thursday. When we arrived at our tractors Friday morning we were amazed by the amount of tractors. I have never seen 1433 antique tractors in one place before. The sounds and smells when people started warming up their tractors was amazing. Once we started there were tractors as far in front and behind as you could see. The actual bridge crossing was incredible! People lined the route, and even the schools brought students out to watch. I am pretty sure Doug Cotton was there on his recently restored G550. We saw that tractor and an A4T 1600 crossing as we were headed south after loading. Not many MM?s overall. We saw some really neat tractors, and some unique engineering also. I took Grandpa?s 53 UB, and couldn?t help but think about him as we crossed. He liked northern Michigan for the fishing...I bet he never imagined the UB would ever get a chance to cross the bridge.
