Case 480b backhoe

working on my case 480b brakes new shoes ect tried to get (shims) off and they dont want come off its like they are stuck anyone know a good way to get them off i need to put seals on really a pain everything was rusty very dirty probably not touched at all for a long time thanks for any ideas is there gaskets on them?

I'm no Casespert myself, but I've been into a few. If the seal is all you're after, I wouldn't fool with the plate or the shims unless I could actually move the pinion shaft up, down, and sideways by hand. In fact I would put a short bolt or two in snug enough so it WON'T move athen work the seal out by whatever means necessary. Replace it and the brakes and button it up.

As always, your choice of course.
