Changing coulter disks

I looked at my coulter disks on my new "old" plow today and was wondering how you get the rivets from hub to replace the discs.

The used implement guy has stacks of what appears to be new "old" stock laying all over the place.

And how close to the plow share should the coulter be.

The ones on there are "Cutter Coulters" so that may present a problem.

By the way I didn't flip it on it's side like that, the guy that picked it out of the weeds did.

The manual for old H. Ferguson plows says, about 1.5" distance.

I use a grinder and a punch and hammer. If they don’t let loose I drill into the ground off rivet so it is countersunk and then pound with a punch that fits in the drill hole, this relieves any expansion pressure the rivet might have.

I replace with good short grade 5 bolts. This functions for me, unless you want it parade ready correct.

I don’t know if any of this is correct, but it’s how I do it.
