Recently purchased a JD 2010 row crop tractor, which I now have running. I went to move it and could not get it into gear. The clutch pedal travel is 1 1/2” before you can feel it applying pressure, which seems normal as I continue to depress the pedal. I can move the shift leaver out to park and up/down the shift quadrant, but when trying to put into a gear it grinds, with no luck getting it into gear. Also, I took off the inspection plate, cleared out grease and debris, which appeared to be insulation. I would appreciate your thoughts on my problem and how I could make a fix without splitting the tractor.

Sounds as if clutch plate is stuck to flywheel. I suggest to spray brake cleaner through inspection hole on clutch/PP. With clutch pedal tied/blocked down operate engine sufficient amount of time to get engine to operating temp. I've also witnessed of tractors engines being started with transmission in gears then stomping on brake pedals to free stuck clutch. Problem with that method is 2010 brakes weren't very good when tractor was new so I doubt this method would work on a 2010
