Lanse, Just inquiring , how many acres of corn do you plan on puttung in?

about 2-3 acres as feed for some sheep and chickens-its a yuppie farm

Farming is farming, be it 2 acres or 2000 acres. Why dont you talk to a local farmer and see if you can just buy some seed, ussually they have extra anyway.

RH Shumway sells corn in small quanities. Grandpa use to get "roasting" ears out of the fied corn. He would watch the corn and pick at just the right time. An old way to use a corn crop is to graze it.When the corn is mature but still green you put the sheep in. They will eat the green leaves. Hand snap what you need. Put the cows in then the pigs. It saves the cost of a picker but you need good fencing.
