Cutting oats...

That time of year again. Lots of straw...have to see if the hot weather hurt the yield.

Nobody plants oats in my area, but I did this spring as a cover crop for a new clover field. Did alright but were sowed too thin to harvest. Growing up, we used them for a protein boost to ground dairy cattle feed. First time I ran an open station Case self propeled combine was a 20 acre oat field. I think my dad didn't want to deal with the itch.
