I have a 1947 or a 1948 Ferguson TE20 with Continental z120 engine. Someone has be tampering with the identification plate so, i am not sure if i can trust it(See picture) Does it say 3390 or 33901(1?) The one's added after 3390 looks like the have been punched.

The two other pictures are from the left side of the trasnmission. The stamps say 2 4 4 47, does that meen that my tractor is a 47?

From this chart , My guess is 1947. 33901 would not have a Z120 Continental . AFAIK

Ferguson Model TE/TEA-20

Year Starting Serial Number
1946 1
1947 316
1948 20895
1949 77773
1950 116462
1951 167837
1952 241336
1953 310780
1954 367999
1955 428093
1956 488579

Transmission casting numbers confirm 24th day of April 1947.
It would have left the production line at Banner Lane Coventry sometime in mid May of that year.

Serial numbers on the ID plate were always hand punched . They will start with a prefix , TEA for petrol , TED for kerosene /petrol and TEF for diesel .
It is very difficult to remove the plates without damaging them, they are held on by spiraled rivets .
If you do manage to get it off the rear of the plate can often reveal the shape of the original punched numbers .
