Well, I made it through my 44 daily cancer treatments with flying colors. Finished last one July 8th., and all geared up to start cutting my 2015 supply of firewood. A few days after that I developed sever angina and had two stents installed. Felt better for a couple days and then all heck broke loose. Back into the hospital and all kinds of scans etc. They found nothing further that needed imediate attention. The docs changed my meds around, but wasn't helping much. Still haveing angina attacks, and needing nito pills. Went to keeping an hourly log of my BP, activities and diet. Got an appointment with a NP and I think she is smarter than the docs. She told me to adjust my BP meds on the fly so-to-speak. I ame takeing a quick release with my other prescribed one in the morning after coffee, and another at noon. That is working. I also discovered that Pepsi was causing an instant rise in BP. Stopped drinking that. Also discovered that a couple barley pops at the end of the day dropped the pressure also.
I have spent the last 3 days up in the woods opening up another section of woods. Built this road, and cut down all the dead and distressed trees, and cleaning up all the downers that were worth saveing. I have a bit over 2 full cord of wood at two landings ready to be blocked, split, loaded and brought home and stacked in the woodshed.
Pics are of the 3pt skiding arch that I built for my B2150 Kubota. It is working out very well. I can drag the winch cable back into the woods 35' while the tractor is parked out near the road. Leaves minimal impact back off the road, and I don't have to worry about a stray stick doing damage to the tractor. The winch is a $54 HF 2500# with remote. Real handy setup. I just walk in and hand carry any good limb wood laying back off the road and block it, and load it into the tractor bucket.
I made the road wide enough for PUs and my cab tractors to get through to get to the 80A wood lot on the other side of the corn. We used to just drive in the fields around this little woods, BUT since I pushed all the brush back around the edges, and cut all the overhanging tree limbs last fall, this year the uncles planted corn rite to the trees, and it all grew tall, so I would have been in deep dew if I ran down a half mile of corn to get to the back woods.

I would almost think that your chemo is affecting you heart. Your BP is reacting to the open pathways that had been restricted plus the drugs. I went on blood thinner the first of July after a mini stroke and a stint. I am breathing harder now than before this happened. I think the drugs are some of it. I thought I had low BS although is was only 88. I have been down to 23 and never passed out. The only effect was third nerve palsy on my right eye.

Don't over do it, as you are dealing with several things. Good luck.

Welcome back to the land of able. Just keep a handle on the recovery and mind physical therapist's recommendations. Jim

Loren , I have always admired your wood cutting and stacking ablity. Its a job I enjoy but I am nothing near as good as you.

On BP I feel that it is an absolute must that you keep track of it yourself, at least twice a day. Something I learned from trial and error.

I went to have some dental work done and the dentist wouldn't do it. Said my BP was 215. In thinking about it I had been having a few funny feelings in my chest off and on. Took it for gas as I had been with a lot of that with the cancer, not knowing I had it.

So I go to the doc. and get put on the water pill. UGH! Every 2 hours, sometimes every hour, every night, no thanks, even with Flowmax which I think is a band-aid. Told her she could do better than that. Put me on Lisinopril at 20 mg twice a day. Went that route for awhile and really started feeling funny, especially light headed, dizzy at times...something is dreadfully wrong here...... Went and got a BP tester, the neat little guy that you strap on your wrist and shucks my BP was down in the low 90's. For a 6'5 guy that works most of the day, that just didn't get it.

So I took my handy tester and some common sense and tweaked my pills. I find that I am a 115 to 135 mmHg guy. Too low and I get that "something is wrong" feeling and too high and the boo birds come out of the wood work.....hypertension shame on you.......

For the last 2 years I record it twice a day and find that it varies all over the place. Stress will really make it shoot up. If I am going to be in a stressful situation or get exposed to one, time to pop a pill, but usually not a 20mg. unless it's up around 170. Without any stresses, I now take one of three combinations: none morning or evening, 10mg. either morning or evening or 10 mg both. Not bad considering where I started.

Other nice thing about what I said above, is that when I do go in for a checkup, my BP and nonperiodic insulin measurement logs go right along with me......the BS was a newly acquired scare I got this Feb. She said it was 136 and bordering on Type II Diabetes. Since dad and his mom had it, and I was getting on up in years, It scared the begeebies out of me enough to quit my favorite sport (beer drinking) cold turkey....haven't touched a drop since Feb 16 the day before I went to see her and she told me what I said above.

She requires a blood test so a few days ahead of time I get that and when I arrive for the visit, she has all the necessities to see what's going on with me rather than........Well Dr. I just don't feel good. I have a headache and my back hurts and I have a bunion on my tootsie......so she sits there blank faced looking at you like.....well what do you want me to do about it? LOL

Well, since I am feeling fine and all my ails are fixed I changed the hyd-tranny fluid in my 2 Ford tractors yesterday. Can't remember the last time I did that and if I did record it I couldn't find where. Day before that I changed the Oring on my lift cylinder in one of them to stop it from hiccuping. Been wanting to get that done for a long time. There I kept it legal. Grin.

Why do you put the wood to be cut on the ground like that? Put a few pieces down first to pile the rest on. Keeps the worms from getting it all dirty & makes chainsawing easier too.

I like your skidding arch, I was wondering if you could post a few more pictures of the back side. I have a piece of a blade and would like to building for one of my tractors.

The wood in those two landings will all be blocked, split, and stacked in the woodshed by Sun. night. I work a small area at a time and clean it all up and then move to next little area. short skids to landings. Back the tractor with 3pt splitter up to pile, split it, it drop into elevator and goes up into dump trailer. Stay tuned for further pics and comentary.

Sounds like we are living parallel lives. Wink; After the cancer treatments my BP was perfect with no meds. Didn't take long for that to revert back. My little boost is a 12.5MG Lisinoprill morning and noon, in addition to my perscription stuff.
Got to go to clinic today for blood work for my Thursday afternoon apointment with the Doc.

I know that part of my BP level had to do with my now ceased favorite pastime which, now that we are talking about it, is probably the reason for the big drop. It was time for the change; had been thinking about it before the BS test result. Haven't missed it all that much and as days go by, as you would expect, the desire just fades into the dust.

Glad you are getting along.

Mark

Great to hear you have that situation sorted out and you can work again. I'm sure with the weather we had you really enjoyed getting into the woods again, I know I would,(no pun intended!) I'm looking forward to seeing part 2 with the 440 set up with what you built for it.
