There are times in the past, when I wished all engines were like this, it would be easy to see what had gone wrong. Suppose it would leak a bit though. When I worked at Dagenham Ford plant in the early 2000's, there was talk of a vehicle, in the plant with a ceramic (glass) engine that was being experimented with, on test. Never saw or heard any more about it.

I too, remember some discussion of ceramic engine blocks. If you search the internet, there are several articles. Expense was one of the major pitfalls.
