galvanized fuel tank

I have an Allis 190XT. I'm pretty sure the fuel tank is galvanized with the Allis paint on it. I need to prep the tank for painting someday. How would I go abolut it without messing up the galvanized surface. chemical paint remover? Lighty sand it down until the orange paint is gone, very very carefully? Then would I paint it with the epoxy primer or do I need a galvanize primer first? Thanks for any help.

Stripping it as you would normally with stripper. There are very new special paints for galvanuzed surfaces. Google it. The new paint will act as a primer for your AC paint. JimN
