Got it running! WOOHOO!!

I bought a Oliver super88 diesel back in April. It had sat several years inside the guys shop when he had health problems and sold it to me. First thing I did was take the injection pump off and send it to dieseltech. It was stuck but he got it freed up and checked over and all is OK. Got it timed and back together and couldn't get any fuel thru it, old fuel turned into tar in the bottom of the tank. I tried E85 for a couple of weeks to no avail and then put a gallon of Acetone in the tank and it cleaned it right up. Working driving sprayer tender for local FS, mowing off sweet clover in CRP, tractor rides and yard mowing I haven't had any time to work on it. Today I got the fuel tank back on and hooked up fuel lines and bled and tried to start it with no luck. I took the hose off of the air cleaner and gave it a shot of starting fluid and it popped off. Ran it a couple of minutes and shut it off and hit the starter and it runs with very little cranking, sound great!! Best Fathers Day present I've gotten in years!!!plus a big half inch of rain this afternoon. Now on to replacing the brake seals and then seals in the hydraulic pump and seat bushings. Happy Fathers Day!!

Since you are in Illinois, are you going on the Bi-County Illinois three day ride the end of July? I just finished a twelve day, 1,775 mile ride with three friends from western Wisconsin to Custer South Dakota and back.

Congratulations SUPER 99 ,,.It is a wonderful feeling giving them LIFE ,. You Guys need to share What those long rides are like ,,..,bi county 3 day ride ,,. Wow Wee ,, 1775mile ride ,,. TELL ME more ! that would be nice to hear of Your experience on these long drives ,,.. I would LOVE to do a couple day rides with my 411 B .. But I want to be equiped ,,.I vote a sun umbrella or buggy canopy and a poncho as a must .. Safety and security is my next concern and perhaps the wife shadowing along on the trips Too ,.. Just wondering ,

Sounds like you did it right and in return it did you right. No personal experience but apparently that E85 is not the ultimate potion to remove old tarred up diesel as some have proclaimed it to be.

We got a half inch yesterday also. Much needed.
Wilton only got a quarter inch, so it tapered off
really much to the North.

The Pine Bluff Methodist church is on Hwy 92. Go south on the blacktop, not the New Boston blacktop, the next one east. Go to the stop sign and turn right. Providence Baptist church is 1/2 mile west of stop sign. I live 1/2 mile north across the field.

Canopies are better by far, I’ve seen lots of umbrellas turned inside out by wind and trucks going by. I carry a cooler and a bag of accessories. Usually drive a couple of hours and take a break and then a couple more to lunch.

Where is the Bi County ride, not familiar with it?

The Bi-County ride is out of the Paris/Marshall Illinois area, they move it around each year. They have two speed groups, 10 and 15 MPH, neighbor and I are already signed up for it. My next one isa three-day ride near Dubuque Iowa with the Rivers and Bluffs club last week of June, then the two-day Rockville Indiana Covered bridge ride that weekend I've done every year since 2003.
The long one I just did to Custer was set up by my Wisconsin friends, the CATCH was tractors had to go at least 30 MPH for the trip out and back from western Wisconsin. The route out was 744.5 miles that the three of us did on two JD 4020s and an Oliver 1655/Cummins with high speed gears and BIG rear tires in four days, 226 miles was the biggest day. We met more friends in Custer that hauled their tractors, then drove about 15/16 MPH to Spearfish, Hill City, and Sturgis areas the next four days. After that we faster nuts drove the 701.5 miles four days back to Wisconsin.
Five of us are planning on crossing the Mackinaw Bridge again in September, but I have to plan a route from my home in Indiana the roughly 475 mile one way trip.

Yes, west and north. Reason's sold it but it's still in business. Are you close to Wilton? I know a few people from there. Drive past the Lock and Dam, when the gravel meets 92, go straight across onto the blacktop, take first road west, I'm the second place on the left.
