So, I suppose I figured out why I got this TE-20 for cheap ... was trying to figure out why the steering was so stiff, no oil in there. Looked down at drain plug at base of transmission housing, and there's a couple of rust holes in there. Gears inside look a bit rusty too but not TOO terrible.
Somehow the hydraulic 3 pt works fine, PTO, shifts fine, runs good.
Pretty clearly someone tried to weld it, but I presume it's cast iron and tricky to weld. I can do MIG, and have a stick welder, but I'm not experienced with it.
Any experience with best thing to do here? Cut a cover plate from mild steel and JB weld it on? Or have a pro welder braze/weld it on?
