Took the day off yesterday and the wife and I went up to what I call the huckleberry rocks on the black river. Beautiful nature reserve and close to home. With it being so wet this year there were some berries, and we even saw a moose on the way out!

Absolutely beautiful there!! What a great way for you and your wife to spend the day together.

It truly is a beautiful spot. It is quite a trail up and over rocks and such to get back in there but that is part of the fun! Once you get off the main road it takes about 45 minutes to make the 5 or 6 mile trek back in to the falls. Pretty hard to navigate with a car, best to take your 4 wheel drive pickup. My Dad took us in there when I was old enough to pick Blueberries in a 53 Chev, and his Dad took him in when he was old enough to pick berries. I took our kids in when they were old enough to pick berries. First time I took the Kids in I was playing up how very few people knew about the place, hardly anyone ever made it all the way in to the falls etc, etc. when my young lad who was 5 or 6 at the time says " seems like a few know about it Dad, look in your rear view mirror" here there was a line of vehicles behind us!! Really though for the most part it is one of those few places that has not changed much in the last 100 or so years.
