Hydraulic Oil

Hey all, as I am working on my 1957 JD 320 U hydraulic system. I was wondering what is the best oil to use? The manual calls for 10W, which I assume was a non detergent back in 1957. I have been using that oil, but I have no more and it is not available. The hydraulic system is separate from the transmission and engine. I am about to take the hydraulic pump off and replace the o ring, so the oil from the hydraulic system does not leak into the engine. Thanks a bunch, Bill C.

Hey to all that made suggestions relative to a hydraulic oil leak I had from my hydraulic pump on my 1957 JD 320 U. I took it apart. It was a project. Spent more time taking everything apart just to get to the pump. Pump looked good. Replaced o ring. But the real problem was just behind the o ring was a leather washer. It was completely destroyed. Leak is no more. To the person that mentioned the o ring and the JD price of about $4.50, my JD dealer wanted $7.50 for the o ring. The leather washer was $9.50. Oh, the joy of living in Massachusetts. On to the next project.
